MG OMD:
WAYFINDING SYSTEM
LEAD DESIGNER
A map-based wayfinding system for a large media agency. This large wall-sized installation was tasked with both greeting visitors and providing a system for finding the location of staff within the office. The agency had recently re-located offices, and as such the wayfinding system was also to help staff find each other in their new surroundings.
The design brief asked for a clean and clear design that would be instantly accessible and usable, as well as presenting a welcome message to visitors. The style of the design was to align itself with the interior design style of the new office implemented by agency, Trifle Creative.
The design utilised a brown paper texture backdrop implemented elsewhere in the office by the interior agency. A strong crisp design of weighty black lines and bold sans serif type was developed to sit upon this and display the information. The staff seating information was organised: departments were colour coded and desks numbered; and staff details, including team and desk number, were listed and organised alphabetically by surname. This information was structured in columns and placed centrally between two maps of the two separate buildings that made up the office. The maps were created from blueprints of the building.
